Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail

Explore the stunning Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail starting right from our store in Yarra Junction, the perfect launch point for a relaxed and scenic ride. From here, you’ll follow a mostly flat, easy trail through beautiful farmland, forest, and along the Yarra River, with plenty of great café stops along the way. Ride out toward Warburton, where you can enjoy lush alpine scenery, riverside parks, and a well-earned coffee or meal before cruising back. Whether you’re after a short, easy spin or a longer adventure, hiring a bike is the best way to experience this iconic trail at your own pace. 🚴‍♂️

Our store is located in Yarra Junction - right on the Rail Trail. From here, you can ride in either direction, as far as you choose.

Redwood Forest
via Warburton and O'Shannassey Aqueduct

Experience one of the most magical rides in the Yarra Valley with this scenic out-and-back adventure from Yarra Junction. Follow the Warburton Rail Trail toward Warburton, enjoying smooth, easy riding through farmland, forest, and along the Yarra River. From Warburton, continue onto the peaceful O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, where the trail winds gently through lush bushland before arriving at the breathtaking Redwood Forest Warburton—a truly unique highlight with towering Californian Redwoods that feel worlds away. Take your time to explore, then return the same way, with the option to stop in Warburton for a well-earned coffee or bite to eat. It’s a relaxed, immersive ride that blends easy cruising with unforgettable scenery. 🚴‍♂️🌲


Ride length: 46km, approx 3–4.5 hours

Recommended bikes: All bikes OK, but an e-bike is recommended for most riders due to the hills and the length of the route.

Scenic Ride To Warburton and return
via O'Shannassey Aqueduct - Dee Road Descent

Take your ride to the next level with this stunning loop starting in Yarra Junction. Begin by cruising along the Warburton Rail Trail toward Warburton, enjoying smooth gravel, gentle gradients, and beautiful riverside scenery. After a well-earned coffee stop in Warburton, climb gently onto the iconic O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, where you’ll ride through lush forest on a peaceful, flowing trail with incredible valley views. The route then descends to Dee Road before linking back to the rail trail for a relaxed spin back into Yarra Junction. It’s the perfect mix of easy riding, scenic variety, and just enough adventure to make it a truly memorable day out. 🚴‍♂️


Ride length: 28km, approx 2.5–3.5 hours

Recommended bikes: All bikes OK, but an e-bike is recommended for beginners due to the hills and the length of the route.
